Catching up... Sort of.

My initial zeal for blogging was snuffed pretty quickly, what with trying to keep up with my demanding little Bunny, Daddy-Man going back to work and finding my Motherhood Niche. Happily, we've been hitting our stride for some weeks now. Life is absolutely wonderful, and I'm thankful for what we have every day. Really, I am. When I catch myself frustrated, or tired, or spent in giving everything to my Little and the rest to everyone else, I stop and think about the darker times when life wasn't like this. And that makes me thankful. You just have to stop, and think.

So, updating... Yes. Lots has happened in Leah's five months in this world.

In April, we had Easter at my grandmother's house in Kazabazua, Quebec. The Easter Bunny visited, leaving goodies for Leah and the Boys. And we had four generations of women in one room!

On Mother's Day, we held her baptism. It was held at a small church in Cantley, Quebec, with our closest, most dear family members and friends there. My brother, Seamus, and David's cousin, Lisa, are Leah's godparents.

The pictures were taken by my cousin, Richard Gravelle. Rick is a wizard with a Nikon... and I hope I can learn just a little bit of what he knows about taking heart-stopping pictures.

June brought Father's Day. David chose what we did that day: a classic car show in Kemptville, Ontario, and lunch out there, too.

That evening, we spent time with my aunt, Sandra, her husband Bob, my grandmother - Ma - and my godson, Sandra and Bob's son Wyatt. We went to a park near the Champlain Bridge in Ottawa, Ontario, by the Ottawa River. It was a beautiful evening for a walk.

July has brought us endless fun, as Leah started giving us real, rollicking belly laughs early in the month. We love to make her laugh.

She babbles now, too, and when we're being lax in our attentions, or if we dare to leave the room, she shouts at us too. She also makes the most fascinating growling sounds. We love hearing her voice. Here, she talks about our recent earthquake:

We've begun to attempt rice cereal every few days or so, to test the waters. Gradually, we are getting more in her mouth - and it's staying there, if not sometimes moving in the right direction.

There have been so, so many big moments during these five months. Once in a while, I'll look at her and think back to the day she came to us. I can't believe that five months separate me from that day, and how quickly that time has passed. I look back now, and I can't believe that I was depressed in May and feeling disconnected from my family, and ambivalent about Leah. I'm so glad I have the support that I do have. It's made all the difference in helping us find our groove.

So, in order to avoid gaping holes in this new endeavour, I'm going to promise to update it once weekly. On Fridays, at the very least. Because if one person sees this little smiling face, it'll surely make their day a little brighter. :)
